What is your patient care philosophy?

The right relationship with food can have a positive impact on your health.  There are no good and bad foods – foods do not have morals, and I am not the food police. My goal is to empower you so you can make well-informed decisions.

How does your work improve lives?

Part of my education is explaining the “why.” Why am I encouraging you to eat more whole foods rather than ultra-processed. Why are processed foods acceptable sometimes. Why should we make sure we are getting enough fiber and protein. Ultimately it is your decision; my goal is to make sure you have good, evidence-based information. And by the way, everyone deserves celebration foods – even diabetics can have a slice of birthday cake. Let me show you how you can and still reach your long-term health goals.

What are some interesting facts about you?

I chose to become a dietician after watching my family struggle with an unrealistic diabetic diet. I moved to Florida to start my career as a dietician at Winter Haven Hospital. For the past 8 years I have worked in dialysis as a Kidney Care Advocate educating CKD and ESRD patients. I am married and have 2 young kids. We like to travel and explore new places and foods. I don’t like the word “diet.” I prefer overall healthier food choices for a lifetime – but that’s a mouth full (pun intended.)
